Food Security Pack Programme

The Food Security Pack (FSP) is social safety net programme targeting vulnerable but viable small scale farming households. The programme was initiated by Government in November 2000 in order to assist farming households who had suffered the negative effects of reduced access to inputs and market due to economic liberalization and erosion of resource base due to recurrent droughts and floods. Even though the policy of market liberalization has brought some benefits to small scale farmers, there is still a problem of how the dynamic constraints of most of them should be addressed to improve household food security within the liberalized policy framework.
